Our vision: a warm, magical, vibrant, green

and welcoming space for the Durham community.

Evergreen. A botanical lounge and event space for Durham’s ever blossoming community. An indoor and outdoor haven framed by lush greenery and vibrant florals. A celebration of the beauty and abundance of the garden, and of the seasons. A place for golden afternoons and shimmering evenings. A natural escape.

With flavors and flora inspired by the African and Asian diasporas (in celebration of our founders’ heritages, homes and families) and evoking the romance and legend of gardens and greenhouses across history, Evergreen will encourage languid afternoons that give way to glittering evenings - under the leaves and the lights.

Alongside specially selected grower champagnes, wines and local brews, we’ll offer a carefully curated menu of cocktails created in partnership with local brands (Conniption, Liberty & Plenty, etc) and infused with fresh grown herbs and edible flowers. We might feature a “Malaysian Mule” garnished with fresh lemongrass and ginger, or a “Hibiscus Old Fashioned,” next to floral-infused teas, specialty coffees and mocktails.

Guests will be welcomed to bring their own take-out delights from nearby spots for picnics on the patio, and we’ll complement Evergreen’s drink offerings with charcuterie, fruit, pastries and other simple bites - alongside pop-up food offerings - and some really special, hand-tied flower and herb bouquets.

who we are.

Jessica Breland is a business whiz, keeper of numbers, our structural and organizing brain. In college (she played ball for UNC Chapel Hill), she was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin Lymphoma. She beat it before moving on to a decade-long, decorated pro-basketball career in the WNBA and overseas - spanning 10 countries. Before retiring, JB started up, operated, managed and then sold the first state-of-the-art Wellness Studio in Durham. A North Carolina native, she's now putting her MBA to good use working alongside Uma to create events, experiences and partnerships across the Southeast.

Uma Ramiah is a multimedia storyteller, event planner, community organizer and (obsessive) gardener. After years of experience in the media, music, art and hospitality industries in Southeast Asia, West, Central and South Africa, Latin America, and across the United States, she made Durham her home. She now works with JB to help chefs, artists, festivals, restaurants, clubs, businesses and more bring their events, brands and stories to life.
